History of Tiegerweide: A Mennonite Village in the Molotschna Colony

Basic facts of Tiegerweide:
– founded in 1822 by Mennonites exiting Prussia
– 1835 population of 211 and 29 establishments
– 1848: 46 establishments
– 1857 population: 181
– 1857 school size: 50 students
– 1908 population: 607
– 1908 had two businesses: grocery store, windmill
– 1920s: at least 144 people emigrated to Canada
– 1943: remaining Mennonite population joined “Great Trek” westward to Poland and Germany
– 2025: former Tiegerweide shows in Google Maps as the village of Mostove
